Solar Decathlon - 1st prize for the Swiss Team

Students from the University of Fribourg, the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg, the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and the Geneva School of Art and Design participated, as the Swiss Team, at the U. S. Solar Decathlon competition with great success.

The Swiss Team designed and built a full-size, energy-efficient and solar powered house, the NeighborHub, and exhibited it in Denver, Colorado.

The NeighborHub - a success story
In this academic competition of 10 contests, the Swiss Team demonstrated in an out- standing way the latest technologies and materials in energy-efficient design, clean energy technologies, smart home solutions, water conservation measures, electric vehicles, and sustainable buildings. For all their efforts, the Swiss Team was rewarded the 1st prize at the Solar Decathlon competition.

A Fribourg Delegation with representatives from all participating schools, politics and industry partners, supported the Swiss Team in Denver. Prof. Dr. Stephanie Teufel, smart living lab project leader, and Kirstin Stadelmann, member of the smart living lab communication team, accompanied the students of the University of Fribourg on site.
